TBHS UPDATE

After many years of faithfully advancing Mark Newsome’s  vision and serving families impacted by brain cancer, Triad Be Head Strong has formally filed Articles of Dissolution. This decision was made only after extensive reflection and with a deep commitment to preserving the mission that has guided our work since the organization's inception.

In late 2024, the Board of Directors determined that, due to significant health challenges affecting several board members and their families, we could no longer dedicate the substantial time, energy, and resources required to successfully organize and sustain the Elm Street Run Festival and the organization's ongoing operations. While difficult, this decision was made with thoughtful consideration for both the future of the mission and the responsible stewardship of the organization's resources.

Throughout 2025, Triad Be Head Strong continued to fulfill its commitment to the community by providing scholarships and direct support to brain cancer patients and caregivers while thoughtfully preparing for the organization's closure. No additional grants or gifts will be distributed prior to the completion of a final transfer of assets to the Cone Health Foundation in 2026.

Although the organization itself is concluding its work, Mark's mission will endure. We have partnered with the Cone Health Foundation to establish restricted funds dedicated specifically to supporting brain cancer patients, their caregivers, and their families. This arrangement ensures that future contributions will continue to honor the purpose, compassion, and vision that inspired Triad Be Head Strong from the very beginning.

We are profoundly grateful to the countless volunteers, donors, sponsors, participants, and community partners who stood beside us throughout this journey. Your generosity transformed a personal story into a meaningful source of hope and support for so many families. We would especially like to recognize the leadership and unwavering dedication of Dr. Zachary Vaslow, his social work team and nurses, and the Elm Street Run Festival, whose commitment helped raise awareness, build community, and advance Mark's vision in extraordinary ways.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for walking alongside us over the years. While Triad Be Head Strong is closing this chapter, we take great comfort in knowing that the spirit of Mark's vision—and our commitment to supporting those affected by brain cancer—will continue to make a lasting difference for years to come.
